Amassing illegal wealth: ACC files case against passport director

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against the Director of the Department of Immigration & Passports Md Abdullah Al Mamun for amassing illegal wealth worth Tk 3.61 crore and hides information.
ACC Deputy Director Md Farid Ahmad Patwary filed the case at the Dhaka Integrated District Office-1.
ACC has transferred the case for investigation to its director Sayed Iqbal Hossain.
According to the case statement, the total assets of the Department of Immigration & Passports Director Md Abdullah Al Mamun are 5.92 crore. On the other hand, his legal income is 2.30 crore. Besides, the ACC has also found evidence that Md Abdullah Al Mamun has concealed information about assets worth Tk 3.25 crore.
The case has been filed against him under Sections 26 (2) and 27 (1) of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2004 and Section 4 (2) 4 (3) of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2012, alleging illegal acquisition of assets including concealment of assets.
