Law enforcers have recovered the bullet-hit bodies of three youths who were allegedly picked up by the plainclothes men identifying themselves as the members of Detective Branch (DB) of Police from a passengers bus at Daulatdia Ferry Terminal on Wednesday night.
But police said they do not have any information about the arrest of those men.
Police recovered the corpses from near the 300-feet Road at Alampur in Purbachal area under Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj district on Friday morning.
The deceased were identified as Md Sohag, 32, son of Shahidullah of Mohakhali, Dhaka, Shimul Azad, 30, son of Abdul Mannan from Jhenaidah, and Noor Hossain alias Babu, 30, son of Abdul Wahab Mia from Munshiganj. Shimul and Babu were brothers-in-law and residents of Mugda.
Faruk Hossain, Additional Superintendent of Narayanganj Police, said, “The locals had informed the law enforcers when they saw the bodies lying on the road. Police recovered the bodies around 11:00am and sent these to the Narayanganj General Hospital morgue,”
The several injury marks have been found in the heads, chests, throats and hands. The three men wore trousers and shirts, the police official said.
“It seems the killers had murdered them somewhere else and dumped the bodies here,” he said.
Relatives of the victims, however, claimed that the trio remained missing
after they went to Shimul’s home district Jhenaidah on Wednesday night after men in civil dress identifying themselves as DB personnel picked them up from a bus.
Shimul’s wife Ayesha Akhter Anni rushed to the hospital morgue based on news of Facebook and TV channels and identified the bodies.
She walled down and said that have a daughter and her husband used to run a ‘small jhut business with Babu while Shohag was engaged with cable business.
Plainclothes used to go the Ferry Terminal by a microbus and a car. The police picked up her husband and others from a bus at Daulatdia ghat on Wednesday night. Since then, Shimul’s cell phone was switched off, Anni alleged.
Shimul’s mother Chaina Begum burst into tear and said that Shohag, Shimul and Nu were also friends and went out to visit Shimul’s house in Jhenaidah.
They were on the way to Jhenaidah and they had contact with them over mobile phone at Maway Ghat around 1:00am on Thursday.
We have tried to search them in relatives’ residences, police stations and bus counters.
Seeking anonymity, one Bus Supervisor said that detective men picked up the youths from bus at the Ferry Ghat area.
Moniruzzaman Monir, Rupganj Police Station OC, said bullet marks were found in the heads and bodies of the victims. some 65 Yaba tablets were also found in one of victims’ pocket,. But the OC suspected that the drug dispute might have led the killings which would have cleared after getting investigation report.
Police are investigating the incident, he added.
