Asian Archery Championship Diya-Rubel duo in final of Recurve Mixed event

Diya Siddique-Hakim Ahmed Rubel duo of Bangladesh reached the final of the Recurve Mixed event of the Asian Archery Championship at the Army Stadium in the city’s Banani on Tuesday. They beat Ankita Bhakta-Kapil duo of India by 5-4 set points in the semi-final. This is for the first time a Bangladeshi duo moved into the final of the Recurve Mixed event of Asian Archery Championship.
Diya and Rubel are the one of the best archers of Bangladesh. Diya has been showing a fine performance for two years. She bagged medal with Roman Shana in the World Cup Archery in Paris this year. By virtue of that performance, She got wild card in the recently concluded Tokyo Olympics. She scored her best in the Tokyo Olympics.
Bangladesh never ever got any medal in Asian Archery Championship. Country’s best archer Ruman Shana failed to bag medal in the Recurve Individual event. Bangladesh’s eye was in Recurve Mixed event. Diya-Rubel duo fulfilled that demand.
Earlier, Ruman Shana, Hakim Ahmed Rubel and Ram Krishna Saha of Bangladesh moved into the semi-final of the Recurve Men’s Team event defeating Uzbekistan by 6-0 set points in the quarter-final. Then, they settled for a 4-4 draw with India in the semi-final. After that, each participants threw one arrow respectively. Bangladesh and India’s point was 27 each. But as the Indian performer threw their arrow nearer than their Bangladeshi opponents, India were declared the winners.
Diya Siddique, Beauty Roy, Nasrin Akter cruised into the semi-final of the Recurve Women’s Team event defeating Uzbekistan by 5-3 set points. They lost to South Korea in the semi-final by 6-0 set points.
Shayamoli Roy, Shuma Biswas, Banya Akter of Bangladesh lost to Iran in the quarter-final of Compound Women’s Team event by 226-227 points in the quarter-final.
Bangladesh reached the semi-final of the Compound Men’s Team event beating Iran by 229-228 points. They lost to South Korea by 6-0 set points in the semi-final.
