A tribunal here on Tuesday convicted two men and sentenced them to life term imprisonment for abducting and raping a girl in the city in 2010.
The convicts were identified as Mamunur Rashid, 27, son of late Abdullah of Ilsha village in Banshkhali upazila, and Delwar, son of Jamal, a resident o the same village.
The court also fined them Tk1.5 lakh each.
According to the prosecution, Mamun and Delwar forcibly picked up the girl from Boilgaon village around 6pm on October 20, 2010. Later they brought the girl to a hotel in the city and raped the girl one by one thorough the night.
On October 22, brother of the victim filed a case with Banshkhali Police Station in connection with the incident.
After examining all evidence and five witnesses, out of 15, Judge of Chittagong Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal M Rezaul Karim handed down the verdict.
