Police recovered the body of a youth from a house in front of Bushra Dentl Clinic on Taj Mahal Road in Dhaka’s Mohammadpur area.
The deceased is Zakaria Bin Haque Shuvo, 26, who worked at a private organization. The body was recovered on Thursday night, said Mohammadpur police station Sub Inspector (SI) Farukul Islam. He said they found the body on the floor. Shuvo was hanging from a ceiling fan with a scarf around his neck when his family discovered the body.

During the preliminary interrogation, the deceased’s wife, Nira told the police that they had an argument over smoking after Shuvo returned home from office in the afternoon. The couple went to two separate rooms following the incident, the police official said.
When she went for Maghrib prayers in the evening, she found Shuvo hanging. Nira took down the body by cutting the scarf with a knife, SI Farukul said.
He also said that it is not possible to say for sure whether Shuvo committed suicide or he was killed. The body was recovered and sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Morgue for autopsy.
“We will learn the details after getting the autopsy report and investigation,” he added.
Meanwhile, the family and friends of Shuvo alleged that it could be a pre-planned murder. He may have been killed by suffocation.
