State Minister for Youth and Sports Biren Sikder on Tuesday introduced the ‘Youth Organisation (Registration and Operation) Bill, 2015’ in the Jatiya Sangsad for ensuring transparency and accountability in the activities of youth organisations.
The proposed bill has determined definitions and purview of youth activities which would ensure discipline in the functioning of youth organisations.
The bill has made provisions for taking legal actions, including abolition of organizations, for setting up and enlisting youth organizations on the basis of false information or involving with subversive activities and activities hampering public interest.
Later, the House sent the bill to the concerned parliamentary standing committee for scrutiny and report back within seven days.
The bill has a mandatory provision for youth organisations to have registration with the Youth Development Directorate.
