A youth was killed over indebted money at Khorulia Chairman Para area under Sadar upazila of the district on Sunday night.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Karim, 32, son of Bashir Ahmad of the area.
Police, with the help of locals, arrested Khokon of Noakhali district. He is a resident of the said area.
Police and locals said Abdul Karim took Tk 50 from Khokon. On Sunday night, he asked for the money to Abdul Karim. At one stage, both locked in altercation and Khokon hit Abdul Karim in his head with a stick leaving him seriously injured.
He was rushed to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital, but as condition deteriorated, he was being to Chittagong Medical College Hospital, while he died on the way at Chakaria.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Cox’s Bazar Sadar Model police station Kazi Motiul Islam said the body was recovered and sent to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
