Domestic help detained with fake currency in the city

Police arrested one Nazma Begum, 31, with fake currency notes from Kawnia area of the city on Saturday noon. Nazma Begum was a seven-month pregnant woman, a tenant of Selim Mia at Amtala area of the city working as domestic help in different houses and wife of Shahid Fakir of Nalcity under Jhalakathi district. Kazi Mahbubur Rahman, Kawnia police station officer in charge, said Nazma was detained by police after she tried to purchase grocery items from a shop and shopkeeper with the help of local people detaining her in formed police. Three fake currency notes of Tk 500 and two of Tk 1000 were recovered from Nazma, police sources added. However Nazma claimed that the notes were given as her salary for working as a domestic help in a female students mess at Zannat Bhavan in C and B road area.
One arrested with phensidyl in Meherpur
MEHERPUR: Police in a drive arrested an alleged drug peddler and recovered 439 bottles of phensidyl from Ponder Ghat area in the district on Thursday morning. The arrested was Khokon Miah, 38, son of Umar Ali, resident of Joyrampur village under Damurhuda upazila in Chuadanga district.On a tip-off, a team of police from Sadar Thana conducted the drive in the area and arrested Khokon and recovered the phensidyl after searching a cotton-laden mini truck, said Officer-in-Charge of the Thana Ahasan Habib, reports BSS.
2 held with heroin,Yaba in C’nawabganj

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-5 arrested two alleged illegal drug traders with 400 grams of heroin and 499 pieces of Yaba tablet from Charterorashia village under sadar upazila on Saturday. The arrestees were identified as Md. Motibur Rahman, 32, son of late Shish Mohammad and Md. Enamul Hoque, 54, son of late Noimuddin Mondol both of Narendrapur village under Sadar Upazila. Acting on a tip off, an operation team of RAB from Chapainawabganj camp raided the area at around 3:50 pm and held them with the drugs, said RAB. Later, they were handed over to the police of sadar thana, the sources added.
Labourer electrocuted in Manikganj

 A labourer died from electrocution at Terosri Bazar in Ghior upazila on Saturday afternoon. The deceased was identified as Shamsul Islam, 50, son of late Kasim Uddin, a resident of Basudebbari village. Sumsul used to work at a rice mill at Terosri Bazar. Owner of the rice mill Abdul Aziz said Samsul came in contact with a live electric wire while he was repairing a machine at the mill around 3pm and died on the spot.
