A young man attempted suicide allegedly after killing his pregnant wife at Madhyam Sonapahar in Mirsarai upazila on Wednesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Parvin Akhter, 34, wife of Belal Uddin, 35, of the village.
Sub-inspector of Jorarganj Police Station M Alamgir Hossain said Belal stabbed his six months pregnant wife Parvin with a knife indiscriminately around 7am following a family feud, leaving her dead on the spot.
Later, the youth tried to slit his throat with the knife, leaving him injured.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Chittagong Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
They also took Belal to the hospital under their custody, said Alamgir.
Locals said this was the 2nd marriage of both Belal and Parvin. Parvin had a daughter, 16, and a son, 10, from her first marriage.
