A workshop titled “Annual Performance Deal’ was held on Monday at the University Grants Commission (UGC) Auditorium in the city with an aim of establishing good governance and excellence in higher educational institutions of the country.
UGC member Professor Dr Dil Afroza Begum addressed the function as the chief guest with another UGC member Prof Dr M Shah Nowaz Ali in the chair, said a UGC press release.
UGC member Prof Dr Md Akhtar Hossain and Secretary Dr Md Khaled spoke on the occasion as special guests while Finance and Accounts Division Director Md Mizanoor Rahman delivered welcome address in the function.
The chief guest urged the university authorities to maintain transparency and accountability to increase the productivity of the universities accomplishing the financial and administrative functions.
She called upon them to utilize the public money properly for making the next generation skilled. Representatives from 37 public universities of the country attended the daylong workshop. Officials from Education Ministry and UGC were present on the occasion, among others.
The main purpose of “Annual Performance Agreement” is to make the activities of public universities under the education ministry dynamic, vibrant and transparent, the release added.
