Work on passengers’ terminal at C’Bazar Airport going on

The construction of international standard passenger terminal building at Cox’s Bazar Airport started from September 5 last.
The Civil Aviation Authority will implement the work at Taka 26,570,410,000 which is expected to be completed on March 23, 2020.
Project sources said the passenger terminal building will have one boarding bridge, one escalator, five lifts, baggage handling and scanning system, CCTV, and central air conditioning. Besides, one new approach and connecting taxiway, car-parking area and VVIP lounge will also be built.
Quoting Director of Cox’s Bazar Airport Development Project Engineer Md Aminul Hasib, Senior Deputy Assistant Engineer Tarek Ahmed said, after the passenger terminal building is complete, international flight will be conducted from the airport and vast flight parking facilities will be created. As an international airport, immigration and customs facilities will also be provided. He also said under the project, the runway has been lengthened from 6,775 feet to 9,000 feet and expanded from 150 feet to 200 feet. Now, the works of terminal mobilisation and equipment establishment are going on. Project Manager of the contractor company National Department Engineers Ltd Rezaul Karim said, though the work has started but lighting could not be arranged till now.
General Secretary of district Awami League and Cox’s Bazar Municipality Mayor Mujibur Rahman said the development of the town as a tourist zone is being given top priority. The longest sea beach here attracts visitors from both country and abroad.
