Bangladesh will take on Sri Lanka in the 3rd and final One Day International (ODI) at Sinhalese Sports Club Ground (SSCG) in Colombo today. The match starts at 10.00 am. Channel-9 and Bangladesh Television will telecast the match live from the arena.
Bangladesh have now 1-0 lead as the Tigers thrashed the hosts Sri Lanka by 90 runs in the first ODI at Dambulla International Stadium in Dambulla on March 25.
Later, the second ODI between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka was abandoned due to heavy rain at the same venue on March 28.
Earlier, Bangladesh played 10 matches at SSCG. Of them, Bangladesh won only one encounter. The Tigers crushed Hong Kong by 116 runs in 2004.
Captain of Bangladesh team Mashrafe Bin Mortaza is very confident to win the today’s match. Though he is the most senior player of the team, but he could not play SSCG due to injury. Mashrafe Bin Mortaza and his teammates have no experience in this ground. But Mashrafe does not think about this matter. He is confident to earn victory after giving their best efforts.
Mashrafe Bin Mortaza said, ” I heard that Sinhalese Sports Club Ground usually acts in favour of batsman. A team can score 280 runs on an average. We are optimistic that if we can play our best, we can win in Saturday’s match.”
He said, ” We shall try to play attacking cricket. No team can win playing defensive cricket in ODI match. We shall try to play according to our plan. I want that we shall play attacking cricket to win the match.”
Manager of Sri Lankan team Asanka Gurusinha said, “Someone like Danushka is someone that I’ve been impressed with when he’s batting. I know he hasn’t scored runs, but my philosophy is to try and support people and have a stable squad. That’s what I’m focusing on. Have a stable cricket team and squad in the national team. That’ll give confidence to the players and confidence to everyone. That’ll help us to do better in our fielding as well.”
He said, “We’re building up a bowling attack. Suranga Lakmal – what he’s done from the time I came, that’s when I saw him – he ‘s pretty good. We’ve got Lahiru Kumara who’s pretty quick for his age. He’s 20 years and still raw. In this One Day squad we’ve got Nuwan Kulasekara and Nuwan Pradeep, and there are a few other young bowlers who are coming up.”
Teams: Bangladesh (possible): Tamim Iqbal, Soumya Sarkar, Sabbir Rahman, Mushfiqur Rahim (Wicketkeeper), Shakib Al Hasan, Mosaddek Hossain, Mahmudullah Riyad, Mehedi Hasan, Mashrafe Bin Mortaza (Captain), Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed.
