A woman and her son were chopped to death allegedly by her husband at Kazimosa village in Paikgachha upazila early Tuesday. The deceased were identified as Anima Das,35, wife of Dipak Das, a resident of the village, and their son Sajib Das,7. Police said Dipak had been passing life amid disappointment due to economic hardship. The couple had often locked in quarrel over the issue. At one stage of brawl, Dipak chopped Anima and Sajib with a sharp weapon at about 3:30 am leaving them dead on the spot. Later, he took poison in a bid to end his life and police arrested him and got him admitted to the upazila health complex under their protection. Police also recovered the bodies and sent those to Khulna Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. Process was underway to file a case in this connection.– UNB, Dhaka.
