Nirmal Kumar Saha, 77, a resident of Nagarpara under Shailkupa municipality, also the father of Biplab Kumar Pintu, Jhenaidah District Correspondent of the Dailly Sangbad died at Shailkupa upazila health complex early Monday without any treatment as there were no physician available, alleged the relatives.
Biplab Kumar Pintu said, his father Nirmal Kumar Saha had been suffering from fever for a couple of days. In the mid of the night of Sunday when he was experiencing breathing problem along with fever, was taken to Shailkupa Upazila Health Complex around 1:30am.
He phoned the residential medical officer, also the emergency medical officer of the health complex Raqibul Alam Roni over his cellphone time and again. Some staffs of the hospital also tried to connect the medical officer, but failed as he did not respond to the calls over the government phone of the emergency department.
At last Nirmal died there at about 3.40 AM after two hours and 10 minutes later when he was rushed to the hospital, Pintu said.
When contacted civil surgeon Dr. Rashida Sultana said the Khulna divisional director of health department, Raushan Anwar, was already apprised of the matter. The divisional director asked her to file a written complaint against the physician Rakibul Alam Rony and take appropriate action against him, the civil surgeon added quoting the divisional director.
The journalist in Jhenidah expressed their deep shock at the sad demise of the father of the journalist Biplab Kumar Pintu and urged upon the authority to remove the physician form the health complex at no delay.
