Winning start for Saif SC in BPL Football

A late goal by Rwanda defender Emery Bayisenge helped Saif Sporting Club to earn a hard-fought solitary goal victory over Bangladesh Police Football Club in their opening match of TVS Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football held on Friday at the Bir Sreshtho Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj.
At one stage, it was seemed that the match was heading for a tame draw, but it was Emery Bysengi who changed the scenario of the match scoring the all-important goal for Saif in the 90+2nd minute of the match.
The two teams Saif Sporting Club and Bangladesh Police Football Club entered the field defying rain. The ground became slippery following heavy rain due to the inclement weather across the country. The players of the two teams had to gain speed to pull the ball in the ground in the whole proceeding.
Saif SC head coach Diego Andres Cruciani made the starting XI without Saif’s regular captain Jamal Bhuyan who is suffering from stomach upset.
Saif SC got the first corner kick in the 22nd minute, but could not utilize the feeble shot.
Saif forward’s Sazzad Hossain missed a scoring chance in the 29th minute utilizing a miss pass, but could not take the shot properly due to the bad condition of the ground.
Saif SC deprived from another certain goal in the 35th minute. This time Saif’s midfielder Mohammed Rahim uddin took an abrupt shot from the vantage position, but the ball narrowly missed the target.
Saif SC got the second corner kick in the 37th minute, but they again wasted it the corner kick.
Police FC’s scoring chance came in the 38th minute. Afghan forward Amredin Sharifi failed to kick the ball properly from the close range as the water remained stagnant in front of goal post area.
Police’s best scoring chance came in the 44th minute when Amredin failed to send the ball to the open net. Thanks to Saif’s Riyadul Rafi who saved Saif from conceding a certain goal.
After resumption, Police FC continued their onslaught and again came close of scoring in the 56th minute. This time Moroccan midfielder Adil Kouskous took a well-judge shot from close range, but Saif’s custodian Mitul Hasan foiled the attempt for safety brilliantly.
