A woman was rapped while collecting blood for dying husband in Dhaka’s Mirpur area on Friday.
RAB has arrested the alleged rapist Md. Monwar Hossain alias Sajib (43) and Mashnu Ara Begum alias Shilpi (40), following a complain.
RAB-2 Assistant Director (Media) ASP Abdullah Al Mamun confirmed the matter to The New Nation on Saturday.
The victim’s sick husband was admitted to Suhrawardy Hospital on Friday evening.
The doctor had asked her to arrange blood for the
patient immediately, Abdullah Al Mamun added.
The victim went to the blood bank on the second floor of hospital and saw three or four men were sitting there. She asked them for aranging a bag of blood.
Then Md. Monwar Hossain alias Sajib, who was sitting among the men, told the victim that he will arrange blood to her, Abdullah Al Mamun added.
Abdullah Al Mamun said, Monwar took her to Shilpi’s house in Mirpur, saying to provide blood. Monwar raped her in that house with the help of Shilpi.
The victim supressed the incident for public shame and due to husband’s illness, Abdullah Al Mamun said.
But when Monwar called to victim’s husband over phone call to send his wife to the second floor of the hospital again to collect the blood, the victim then said details to her husband about the rape.
Then her husband complained to the RAB-2 commander. The ASP said that the initial truth of the incident was found.
Abdullah Al Mamun said in primary interrogation, Monwar confessed about raping the victim in collaboration with shilpi. “Monwar said that he has an illicit relationship with shilpi.” ASP added.
