WB to provide $10m for improving public procurement system

The World Bank (WB) will provide the government a loan of $10 million to support its initiatives for improving the public procurement system. The loan will fund the Second Additional Financing to Public Procurement Reform Project II.
An agreement to this effect will be signed between the government and the WB today at the NEC conference room of the Economic Relations Divisions (ERD) in the capital city. ERD additional secretary Kazi Shofiqul Azam and WB acting director Rajashree Paralkar will sign the agreement on their be-half.
According to a WB document, the objective of the project is to improve performance of the public procurement system progressively in Bangladesh, focusing largely on the target agencies.
