Veteran Bollywood actor Vinod Khanna passed away on Thursday. He was 70. Khanna, who was suffering from advanced bladder carcinoma, breathed his last at 11:20am.
The actor, who was sitting Bharatiya Janata Party member of the Lok Sabha from the Gurdaspur constituency in Punjab, was admitted to Sir H N Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre in Girgaon, Mumbai, recently.
Vinod Khanna had starred in more than 100 films in a career spanning over five decades. In the 1980s, at the peak of his career, he quit films to join Osho’s ashram. At the time, Osho called himself Rajneesh.
The actor, who started off as a villain, went on to star as a leading man in dozens of films including ‘Mere Apne,’ ‘Insaaf’ and ‘Amar, Akbar, Anthony.’
It is indeed a tragedy that a man who entertained millions of us for almost 4 decades has gone to the beyond after battling from cancer. Vinod Khanna will surely be missed.
