Hosts Green University earned 3rd successive victory to reach the quarterfinal of the Walton First Inter-University Football Tournament, the Faraz Challenge Cup, beating Gono University by 2-1 goals at the Kamalapur Stadium here on Wednesday.
Mushtaq of the winning team was adjudged the best player of the tournament.
City University, Daffodil University and Southern University also reached the quarterfinals from their respective groups to join BRAC University and Fareast University, which qualified for the last eight stages earlier.
In the day’s other matches, North South University played to a goalless draw with Southern University, BRAC University earned the 4th consecutive victory beating East West University by 1-0 goal while Daffodil University defeated Sonargaon University by 2-0 goals.
Mridul of North South University, Captain Anaf of BRAC University and Sajal of Daffodil University were adjudged best players of their respective matches.
After a recess on Thursday, four more matches will be held on Friday– all at Kamalapur Stadium.
