A village doctor was held at Shahrasti Upazila on the charge of his raping and mothering an autistic , poor teen age girl in his chamber in the name of treating her.
Contacted, OC Shahrasti Model Thana Mohammad Shah Alam confirmed the report and said that the Polli doctor was arrested after a case on rape and repression on women was filed on 28 October with Shahrasti Thana accusing the Polli doctor Ashim Kumar Majumder, son of Nepal Chandra Majumder of Shekkuni village under Shahrasti Upazila.. The arrestee Polii doctor is Ashim Kumar Majumder, 45 is a resident of Shekkuni village in Shahrasti Upazila. He was practicing at Shahrasti Bazar as a Polli doctor and also as a Kobiraj.
According to the case, and the fatherless victim ‘s mother Mansura Begum, a resident of Shonapur village of the same Upazila, said, as her daughter, 17, was autistic. One day, on the way near her home, the doctor Ashim advised her to take her sick daughter to his chamber for treatment. Then he assured her, ‘ the daughter will be well gradually through his ‘ Kobiraji’ treatment’.
Accordingly, in mid-June last, the worried mother took the teen age daughter to his chamber where the Polli doctor allegedly raped her for a week , by turns , in a tiny room just behind the chamber in the name of treatment .
The mother was told to wait outside the chamber.
In the meantime , the teen ager became pregnant and then, secretly the immature child in the womb was damaged . The victim’s mother, being very poor, and illiterate, approached the local bigwigs secretly and moved from pillar to post to settle the matter secretly but to no effect. The Polli doctor tried his best to hush up the matter too.
At last, the victim’s mother Mansura Begum filed the case accusing the Polli doctor Ashim.. The Polli doctor was arrested on Sunday evening from his chamber by Sub Inspector Nazrul Islam and Asstt. Sub Inspector Orjun Chandra Roy along with force.
OC Shah Alam said, the victim would be examined medically at Chandpur 250 Bed General Hospital and the accused village doctor has already been sent to the court on last Monday that sent him to jail hazot.
