Vegetable cultivation increases in Sylhet

Vegetable cultivation is increasing in Sylhet. This year extra 2000 hectares have been brought under it and the target is fixed at 50,000 hectares .
AD Sylhet Agriculture Extension Directorate Dr Mamunur Rashid said vegetable cultivation is increasing in Sylhet every year.
Agriculture Directorate said this year about 50,000 hectares is target for vegetable cultivation. Previous year it was 48,000 hectares. At present all vegetable in the market are the product of Sylhet. In Golapgonj and South Surma huge amount of lean have been produced. In Sylhet Sadar, South Surma and Biswanath bumper production of tomato achieved. Farmers are benefited by cultivating been and tomato.
Source said by special method one tomato tree give three type of tomato on each decimal 280 to 320 KG tomato produce. Total cost is TK 6 to 7 thousand per decimal. After cost net profit is TK 7 to 8 thousand . At the first time of season the rate is exorbitant. For this farmer grow tomato at the beginning
At present potato is selling at TK 50 and per KG big bean is TK 60 to 65 .
Sujon, President, Faruk Mahmud Chowdhury said farmers grow vegetable with hard labou but it is unfortunate that they are being deprived of due rate.
Agri Extension Directorate Ad Mamunur Rashid said , many land are fallen in Sylhet.
