Staff Reporter :
Utility service bill defaulters with any of the government institutions will not be eligible to contest in the December 23 Parliamentary election, the Election Commission (EC) said on Saturday.
In the circular-1 published yesterday, the EC said if an aspirant failed earlier to pay the telephone, gas, electricity, water or any other bill of any service providing organisation of the government, he or she must obtain payment clearance seven days before submission of nomination papers.
The EC also cleared directives for loan defaulters.
The EC said that it would accept nomination paper from a candidate, who is a director of a company or a partner of a firm, clears overdue amount on the day of submission.
The EC says a loan defaulter other than a director of a company or a partner of a firm shall make payment against overdue amount seven days before submission of nomination paper.
The last directive, however, will not be applicable for persons with small or agriculture loan.
