E-learning and e-manual contents for the students of class IX and X has been launched to make their classrooms more interactive and interesting.
TQI-2 project of the Education Ministry and Ethics Advanced Technology Limited (EATL) have developed the e-learning and e-manual aiming to promote ICT-based education in the country.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid inaugurated the e-learning and e-manual contents as the Chief Guest at a function in a city hotel on Monday.
Education Secretary Md. Sohorab Hossain, Secretary of Secondary and Higher Education Division Md. Alamgir, chairman of National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) Prof Narayan Chandra Saha, Senior Social Sector Officer of ADB S M Ebadur Rahman, Project Director (Additional Secretary) TQI-2 Project Md. Zahir Uddin Babar and Managing Director of EATL M A Mubin Khan, among others, addressed the function with Director General of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (DSHE) Professor Dr SM Wahiduzamman in the chair.
Nahid said Bangladesh has made a good progress in the expansion of education in the past eight years as a result of sincere efforts of the government.
“Now we are focusing on quality education as it is our main challenge. In order to improve quality of education, use of ICT has to be ensured at all levels of education sector,” he added.
The minister said e-learning and e-manual contents for class IX, X will supplement the efforts of improving quality of education in the country.
Mubin said the students of class IX and X will be able to use the developed e-learning contents as a supplementary material with their textbooks and access the contents from their school computer lab or multimedia classrooms.
“They (students) will also be able to have the content in their smartphone or tablet or computer and view it. Mainly images, graphs, animations, simulations and videos have been prepared in this project to make the learning more interactive and joyful,” he added.
The developed contents will be distributed in the schools and e-learning centers and will be hosted in the website so that anybody can access the contents from anywhere, Mubin said, adding a link to the website has been given in the NCTB website (www.nctb.gov.bd) at ICDT > General Education link.
Other speakers said the e-manual contents will help the teachers to make their classes more interesting and resourceful. Teachers will use those materials while teaching in the class, they added.
