A union parishad member named Emran Chowdhury, 45, was stabbed to death in Hathazari upazila of Chattogram early Tuesday.
Deceased Emran Chowdhury was a member of Ward- 9 of Gorduara union and son of one Omar Chowdhury from Kamdor village.
Local sources said that Emran locked into an altercation with one Jamshed at Ichhapur Bazar around 2 pm over previous enmity.
At one stage of the dispute, Jamshed took a knife from a nearby shop and stabbed Emran cruelly, leaving him critically injured.
Belal Uddin Jahangir, Officer in Charge (OC) Hathazari Model Police confirmed the news to the media that Emran was rushed to a local hospital and then admitted to the CMCH where he succumbed to his injuries.
