Unnecessary use of horn causes sound pollution

 Port City Chattogram has become a city of sound pollution in the recent days . The civic life from early morning to midnight being hampered following the unterupted high vehicle horn. City dwellers are passing days with the pollution ranging out of 11 to 38 decible .
A number o f health problems are being experiencing from early morning after coming out of homes and back to home duly attending the destinations of service station , school and colleges .
Specifically elderly people and the children are mostly affected with the sound pollution. According to ENT specialists, if such sound ration of sound polloution is continued , the city will be turned a city of deaf very shortly.
The natural enriched Chattogram city now deprieved of the sounds of the birds rather listens the fatal sound of horn of vehicles and motorbikes with speed of 80 to 90 decible . Sound pollution is also hearable from the development activities of the ongoing heavy projects and industries.
It is also witnessed that in case of traffic congestions in roads, the halting vehicles unnecessarily use horn without any cause. Unnecessary use of hydraulic horn creates much annoyance among the pedestrians in the roads. Like other cities, this port city have residential, commercial and industrial areas , the ratio of pollutions not equal in these category of areas.
To assess the rate of pollutions, city planner Engr. Ali Ashraf conducted a survey of sound pollution recently and the picture of severity of sound pollutions expressed in the research paper.
Sources said City Planner and his team members conduct survey in 32 important key places in the city through installing Digita sound meter(DSM). The average rate o f pollution in these areas traced upto 90 decible which is enough to destroy the listening power of the man.
To save the city dwellers in the research paper mentioned to launch counseling about the bad affects of sound pollution in educational institutions, bus terminals and holding of s eminars with drivers regularly otherwise the city will be turned into a deaf city gradually. An ENT specialist Dr. Chandan Kanti Das told BSS that if the such soundpollution is continued, the patients of high blood pressusre, cardiac disease may increase alarmingly and cause of heart stroke to death.
