University classes to resume after vaccination of students

Residential halls will be opened after administering Covid vaccine to the students of both public and private universities of the country. Afterward, academic activities will be resumed in presence of the university students.
It was decided at an opinion-sharing meeting of the Ministry of Education, University Grants Commission and public university vice-chancellors. Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni chaired the meeting.
The meeting accorded permission to the vice-chancellors of public and private universities to take examinations directly and online. However, the examinations will have to be taken in consultation with the academic councils.
At the same time, university students will be brough under the vaccination programme as soon as possible.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Education Minister made her remarks emphasising the necessity of continuing the academic activities at all public universities of the country and reopening those as soon as possible.
Moderated by Mahbub Hossain, Secretary to the Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education, the meeting was attended by Deputy Minister for Education Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury, UGC Chairman Professor Kazi Shahidullah, UGC member Prof Dil Afroze Begum, Prof Md Sazzad Hossain, Prof Muhammad Alamgir, Professor Biswajit Chanda, prof Md Abu Taher, public university vice-chancellors, Health Secretary, Bangladesh University Teachers Association Federation president and secretary general, president of the Covid-19 related National Technical Consultant Committee, Education Secretary and UGC Secretary.
