Saturday's city arson attacks: Rizvi, Bulu, Aman sued

UNB, Dhaka :Two cases have been filed against some top BNP leaders and unknown people in connection with Saturday night’s arson attacks in Matsya Bhaban and Mohammadpur areas.Sub-inspector of Mohammadpur Police Station Nurul Islam filed a case against 22 named people, including BNP leaders Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Barkatullah Bulu and Amanullah Aman, and 20-30 unnamed ones on Sunday noon in connection with the arson attack on a bus in front of Bhanga Mosque at Mohammadpur Beribadh.Officer-in-charge of the police station Azizul Haq confirmed the filing of the case.Earlier on Saturday, nine people suffered injuries after miscreants hurled a petrol bomb at the bus around 9:45pm.Six of the passengers sustained burn injuries and the three others were injured while getting off the burning bus hurriedly.Meanwhile, SI Shafiul Islam of Ramna Police Station filed the other case against 20-25 identified and several unidentified people on Sunday noon in connection with the petrol bomb attack on a police van in the city’s Matsya Bhaban area. Ramna OC Mashiur Rahman confirmed the case filing. He, however, declined to disclose the names of the named accused.Earlier, five policemen were injured as miscreants threw a petrol bomb at their vehicle in Matsya Bhaban area on Saturday night.
