Staff Reporter: Allegation has been found against Alfadanga’s Pachuria Union Awami League President and General Secretary for being mock Chairman candidates in the upcoming UP election, sources said.
Party sources said that the Union AL President Rafiqul Islam and General Secretary SM Shahnewaz Ripon Sikdar sent their names to the upazila committee as probable chairman candidates only for securing party nomination for the incumbent chairman Mizan Sardar, other leaders alleged.
Party leaders of the Pachuria union of Alfadanga upazila in Faridpur districts said, they have been seriously disappointed with the issue.
“The union AL president and General Secretary sent their names without summoning party’s extended meeting to secure party nomination for Mizan Sardar, depriving other aspirants,” said Iqbal Hossain, a leader of the AL and also aspirant of the party nomination as a chairman candidate.
He and other leaders said that the upazila AL committee is now taking preparation to send the nomination aspirant names to the center.
Iqbal Hossain, Finance Affairs Secretary of Jatiya Sramik League, Alfadanga upazila committee, has submitted written allegation against this to Faridpur district Awami League President and General Secretary seeking remedy.
Iqbal Hossain told The New Nation that most of the local AL leaders, workers and supporters with him.
Local people said that Iqbal Hossain is working as the nomination aspirant for long.
Besides, Iqbal’s family has always been devoted to the AL and his elder brother MM Jalal Uddin Ahmed is serving as the education and human resource affairs secretary of AL Faridpur district committee.
He is former Chairman of Alfadanga upazila and Pachuria union several times.
Meanwhile, union AL president Rafiqul Islam said that they have sent all nomination seeker names to the upazila committee.
Replying to a query, he said, he did not know how the once BNP’s Jatiyatabadi Chaatradal leader SM Shahnewaz Ripon Sikdar has been the union AL General Secretary.
