UAE labour market expanding fast for BD workers

United Arab Emirate, the second largest labour market for Bangladeshi workers, is being expanded again after nearly one decade, sources said.
It is a very good news for Bangladeshi manpower who are keen to go abroad.
Stakeholders of manpower sector said that the hiring manpower from Bangladesh on 2012 after bringing allegation of irregularities of recruiting workers.
Sources said that the main reason behind recruiting Bangladeshi workers was different.
Several officials said that in 2012, Bangladeshi voted Russian against the UAE for organizing the World Expo-2020 which made Abu Dhabi angry.
As per the data of the Bureau of Manpower Employment and Training, more than 23,76,000 Banglaeshi workers went to the UAE since 1976.
At present over 10 lakh Bangladeshi people are working in the oil rich gulf Arab country.
But the down turn started after the incident. BMET data showed that 2,15,452 workers went to the UAE from Bangladesh. About 2,82,739 persons went there a year ago.
The average two lakh Bangladeshi workers were flown to the country every year till 2012.
But after the ban, only 14,241 people left Bangladesh to the UAE in 2013.
Meanwhile, Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Imran Ahmad has taken utmost efforts to reopen the labour market.After getting the responsibility of the ministry, Imran Ahmad visited UAE several times and tried to regain the accessibility of the large labour market for his countrymen.
As a result, the hearts of the UAE leaders were meltdown and they started to recruit Bangladeshi manpower again. In 2019, about 3318 Bangladeshi workers got UAE visa, while in 2020, only 1082 Bangladeshi people went to the Arab country.
As a sign of increasing manpower recruiting form Bangladesh, 29,202 workers went to the UAE in 2021 instead of the pandemic.
On the other hand, the two months of the 2022, about 27,470 Bangladeshi went to the country and got work permits. Among those, 12,885 went in January and 14,585 in February.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina also visited the country several times and warmed bilateral relations and cooperation in different sectors. On March 7, the PM visited UAE with several ministers including the Expatriates’s Welfare Minister Imran Ahmad.
Bangladeshi diasporas in the UAE are sending remittances to the country with hardworking in the country.
As per the data of the Bangladesh Bank, Bangladeshi expatriates sent USD 2507.64 as remittance.
When contacted, Imran Ahmad, Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister told The New Nation on Tuesday, “The UAE is recruiting a good number of our manpower in recent days. Many people are going there and the authorities there recruit them regularly.”
The minister said, it is a good gesture for our people awaiting for going the country.
