POEMS: Two poems of Ahmad Ali

1. My greenish-dark bird

She is not far from her birth-place
but on the bank of Kopotakkho river,
 and nobody knew that I loved her.

When she often sings
 the sweetest songs
on the bank of the river;
the call of the cuckoo melts on
balsam flowers that open its petals
in the woods
spreading sweet fragrance
that sweeten our hearts with thrills.

Every night when I met
greenish dark bird of my love
the azure sky
covers it with stars all over there.

2. You are lost

I cannot remember when I met you first
But a deep romance in my memory wakes up
 and speaks on stealthily in my mental sky.
The vitex negundo ,we call Sheuly
rests fallen on the autumn morning
and her green heart seats on the rainbow-boat
 and once I find her wafted on the horizon
by the swinging colored light.
Fragrant life like flowers having bright;
 full of beauty, and humor of the golden day,
 not known, when that’s fallen
 and gone away like the morning dew.

You are beyond my notice, till now I search you.
But! Oh! You are lost forever.
