Two Indians held with 2.6 kg gold at HSIA

Two Indian nationals were arrested on Tuesday night with 12 gold bars weighing 2.620 kilograms at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Dhaka.
A preventive team of Dhaka Customs House arrested them and recovered the gold from their rectums.
The accused identified as Iswar Das and Gurjan Singh came here from Dubai by an Emirates flight EK-586 at 7.45 pm on Tuesday.
Assistant Commissioner (Preventive) Md Saidul Islam said, “The two Indians tried to leave the Green Channel area
hastily, which caught the eyes of the preventive team members.”
He said that they denied having any gold with them after challenging.
Later the team took them in a Uttara clinic, where X-ray report confirmed presence of gold bars inside their rectums, he added.
The team recovered 1.295 grams of gold from Iswar Das and 1.325 grams from Gurjan Singh. The recovered gold’s market price would be about Tk. 1.31 crore.
