Boalmari UZ , Poura BNP tri-annual confce held

The tri-annual conference of Boalmari upazila and Psourashava unit of BNP was held on October 12 and 13 at Shaheed Minar premises of Boalmari upazila headquarter. Faridpur district BNP President Jahurul Haq Shahjada Mia inaugurated the convention. BNP Executive Committee member and Ex MP Faridpur-1 freedom fighter Shah Mohammad Abu Zafar was the chief guest. Md. Siddikur Rahman elected president, Advocate Md. Sirajul Islam, General Secretary and Md Mozibur Rahman Babu elected Organaising Secretary of the BNP upazila committee. Sheikh Afsaruddin as President Motahar Hossain Methu, General Secretary and Rasel Ahmed elected organaising secretary of the BNP pourasova committee. It is to be mentioned that, the last convention of those units were held on October 2009.
Puja ends with immersion of Durga idols

Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of the Hindu community, ended with the immersion of goddess Durga in the capital and elsewhere across the Sylhet Division on Friday. Some 2404 puja mandaps were set up Sylhet Division to observe the religious festival this year. Devotees in their tearful eyes bade farewell to the mother deity and her children -Lakshmi, Saraswati, Kartik and Ganesh – through the immersion of their idols in the water wishing Durga’s return next year. The ceremonial worship of the goddess ended with the celebration of Bijaya Dashami across the Sylhet area on Thursday. However, devotees immersed the idols of the deity and her children in rivers on Friday.
Former Shibir leader gets life
RAJSHAHI: A court here yesterday convicted a former Shibir leader and sentenced him to life imprisonment for possessing firearms in the city. Judge of Speedy Trial Tribunal Golam Ahmed Khalilur Rahman found the convict Saifuddin Yeahia guilty of the charge beyond doubt and pronounced the verdict in his presence. According to the court sources, in two sections of the case he was sentenced to life imprisonment and 10 years behind the bar. On a tip-off, a RAB team conducted a drive in Malopara area under Boalia Police Station on September 26, 2013 and arrested 10 shibir activists including Yeahia, the then General Secretary of Islami Chhatra Shibir of Rajshahi University unit, reports BSS.
10 people arrested in Netrakona

Police arrested 10 people on charge of killing a businessman and his wife in the residence at Durgapur upazila of the district on last Friday. Police said, on information, a police team of Durgapur police station recovered the slaughtered bodies of cloth merchant Arun Chandra Saha and his wife Hena Saha. The bodies of the victims bore with several stab-injuries. Police recovered the bodies from the second floor of their three-storied building on Friday noon. Police seized different evidences from the spot and sent the bodies to Netrakona Sadar Hospital morgue for postmortem, OC of Durgapur Thana Rejaul Islam said.
Outlaw leader held in Rajbari
RAJBARI: Police arrested a regional leader of the outlawed party, ‘Purba Banglar Communist Party’, from Pachuria Andhar Manik village in Rajbari Sadar upazila on Monday afternoon. The arrestee was identified as Akram Hossain, 45, son of Belayet Hossain. Being tipped off, a team of Detective Brunch (DB) of police arrested Akram from his home around 2:30pm, said Sub-inspector of DB Nizamuddin. DB men also recovered firearms and bullets from his house, Nizam added, reports BSS.

COMILLA: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested two people in possession of two foreign-made pistols, two magazines, one LG and 10 rounds of bullet from Felna village in Chauddagram upazila early Tuesday. The arrestees were identified as Imam Hossain, son of Makbul Hossain, a resident of Felna village, and Abul Khayer, son of Abul Kalam, a resident of Satiani village of the upazila. Major Khorshed, commanding officer of Crime Prevention-2 of Rab-11, said tipped off, a team of the elite force conducted a drive in the area and arrested the duo at about 3:30 am, reports BSS.
