Comilla Victorians emerged as the champions of the UCB 6th Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) T20 cricket after beating Dhaka Dynamites by 17 runs in the final at the flood-lit Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur on Friday. It was for the 2nd time Comilla Victorians clinched the BPL title.
Comilla Victorians piled up a fighting total of 199 for the loss of three wickets thanks to Tamim Iqbal, who remained unbeaten with 141. His 61-ball tornado innings was ornamented with 11 sixes and 10 fours. Then they restricted Dhaka Dynamites to 182 for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs. Tamim Iqbal was adjudged the Man of the Match.
Comilla had a sorrow start as in-form opener Evin Lewis (6) was trapped leg before wicket by pacer Rubel Hossain when Comilla’s score was only nine runs.
Opener Tamim Iqbal and Anamul Haque salvaged their team from early debacle as they put on together 89 runs in the second wicket stand before Anamul Haque was trapped leg before wicket by Shakib Al Hasan when Comilla’s total was 98 for the loss of two wickets.
After Anamul’s departure, number-four batmen Shamsur Rahman (0) could stay at the crease for a short time as he was run out by a superb attempt of Shakib Al Hasan.

Then Tamim Iqbal and Imtul Kayes contributed together 100 runs for the fourth wicket partnership before Comilla’s innings was concluded.
Anamul notched up 24. His 30-ball innings saw two fours.
Imrul Kayes remained unbeaten with 17. He hit one six in his 21-ball innings.
Shakib Al Hasan and Rubel Hossain got one wicket each for 45 and 48 runs respectively.
Later, Dhaka Dynamites started badly as they lost opener Sunil Narine (0), who was run out by Mohammad Saifuddin before Dhaka opened their account.
Then opener Upul Tharanga and Rony Talukdar rescued their team from early collapse adding together 102 runs before Tharanga was caught at the long-on by substitute Abu Hider off Thisara Perera when Dhaka’s total 102 for the loss of two wickets.
Rony hammered a windy 66. His 38-ball innings had four sixes and six fours. He was run out by wicketkeeper Anamul Haque when Dhaka’s score was 121 for the loss of four wickets.
Tharanga made 48 from 27 balls. He hit three sixes and four fours.
Later, Dhaka batsmen failed to make any notable partnership.
Wahab Riaz of Comilla Victorians grabbed three wickets at the cost of 28 runs, while Thisara Perera and Mahammad Saifuddin bagged a pair of wickets each instead of 35 and 38 runs respectively.
