Detective Branch men, in a raid, arrested Ariqul Islam, 26, Environment Affairs Secretary, Bangladesh Chhatra League, Sharsha upazila unit and also son of Abdur Razzak of Chatkapota village under the police station early Wednesday.
Confirming the information, sub inspector Murad Hossain of Jessore DB told that raiding the residence of the BCL leader the DB men arrested him along with a foreign pistol and a magazine early Wednesday. A case was lodged with Sharsha police station in this regard, the SI added. In another raid, Abhaynagar police detained Rajib Sheikh, 29 of Mashiali village under Khanjahan Ali police station in Khulna, from a forest at Siddipasha under Abhaynagar police station in Jessore on Wednesday morning. The police seized a foreign pistol, two rounds of bullets and a magazine searching his body, said Sheikh Goni Mia, officer in-charge, Abhaynagar police station.
