Police detained two members of a fraud gang from Mahalchhari Upazila here on Friday noon for their alleged involvement in cheating people in the name of purchasing gecko.
The arrested are Iqbal Hossen, 25, of Muslimpara and Sultan Ahmed, 27, of Comillatila area in Sadar Upazila.
Sub-Inspector of Mahalchhari Police Station Mohammad Habib said the two frauds cheated some people in the name of trading gecko. They have realised more than Tk 5 lakh from several persons at different places of the district.
People caught them red-handed at Maishchhari Bazaar at 10 am on Friday. The frauds admitted their misdeeds.
Loken Mohajon, assistant sub-inspector of the PS, said a case was filed against them.

Mohammad Rubel, 20, was electrocuted while he was repairing an electric switch at west Dumuria village under Raojan upazila of the district in the morning.
He was taken to Chattogram Medical College Hospital but the attending doctors declared him death after admission.
While the body of an unidentified youth aged about 26 was recov ered from a pond of Hazhazari upazila sadar of the district in the evening. The body was sent to CMC morgue for autopsy, sources said.
