Miscreants snatched Tk 7 lakhs from a customer waiting inside Sonali Bank Chawak Bazaar Branch in Barisal city on Wednesday noon.
The bank was operating without any security guard, Sultan Hossain Khan, manager of the Bank acknowledged.
The victimised client Rustam Ali Mallik, a poultry businessman of Zia Sarak area, said collecting Tk 7 lakhs as SME loan from the bank while he was waiting for his men inside the bank at about 11:30 AM. Suddenly some one diverted his attention saying that money of some body fell on the floor.
When his attention was diverted, the miscreants snatching his bag filled with money and ran away. Going outside the bank the miscreants found speedily running on the street, but none of the bank employees came forward to detain them, Rustam Ali alleged.
Sultan Hossain Khan, manager of the Bank acknowledging the facts said that the snatcher could be identified from close circuit camera installed in the bank. There was rush in the bank as audit -inspection team was working there.
