Two alleged drug peddlers were killed in a reported gunfight with law enforcers in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Thursday.
The gunfight occurred at Hoaikong Satghoria Para Pahari under Teknaf upazila in the morning.
The deceased were identified as Ziabul Haque Zia alias Prokash Babul, 30, son of one Shamsul Alam from Hoaikong union and Azim Ullah, 46, son of one Kefayet Ullah from Shilkhali area under Baharchara union.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Teknaf Model Police Station Prodip Kumar Das confirmed the news to the media.
Police recovered one-shooter gun, 5 locally made weapons, 36 rounds bullets and 5,000 yaba pills from the spot.
The OC said the deceased were accused in a number of cases. Dead bodies were kept in Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue.
