RAB Service Week observed in Barishal

 Barisal RAB-8 has undertaken several programmes on the occasion of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s birth centenary and ‘RAB Service Week’. Following this on behalf of the Barisal Battalion, Commander Md. Jamil Hasan distributed winter clothes among the snake charmer community at the Launch Ghat of the city and on the banks of Sandhya River recently. Besides, with the help of other officers and members of RAB-8, winter clothes were distributed among the destitute and helpless people suffering from cold.

The quarterly meeting of civil society representatives was held in Lalmonirhat RDRS Meeting Room under the management of a non-profit social development organization in collaboration with European Union, Rupantar and Helvatas on Sunday. Sadar Upazila UNO Mahmuda Masum was the Chief Guest. Officer-in-Charge of Sadar Police Station Shah Alam was the special guest. Lalmonirhat Barta Newspaper Editor freedom fighter SM Shafiqul Islam Kanu was the invited guest. Mohsena Begum Mina, Headmaster of Batrish Hazari High School, Enamul Haque Tipu, Head Coordinator of Bitahhin Samaj Unnayan Sangstha, Kamruzzaman Rana, Regional Coordinator of Rupantar and Councilor Sujata Begum spoke on the occasion. Sheikh Shafiuddin Commerce College Principal Entajur Rahman presided over the function.

Founding anniv of Kaler Kantha celebrated

The 12th founding anniversary of The Kaler Kantha, a national Bengali daily of the country was celebreted here in a simple but impressive manner on Monday morning under the auspices of Kaler Kantha Shuvo Sangha and its (Kaler Kantha) Bagerhat district based correspondent Bisnu Prosad Chakrabarty. On this occasion a lively discussion meeting was held in Bagerhat Press Club Auditirium with Prof. Mostahidul Islam (Robi), President of the Shuvo Sangha and retired Vice-principal of Bagerhat Govt. P C College in the chair. Bisnu Prosad Chakrabarty while was delivering his welcome speech in the meeting he explained the aims and objections of the daily. It was addressed among others by Prof. Abdur Rob Chowdhury, former President of TIB (Transparency International Bangladesh), Bagerhat, Prof.ABM. Mosharraf Husain, Bagehat district based correspondent of the English daily The New Nation, Khondokar Asifuddin Rakhi, Principal of Bagehat Khan Jahan Ali Degree College, Rabindra Nath Banarjee, retired Headmaster of the loca Adarsh High School, Nihar Ranjan Saha, President of Bagerhat Press Club and Al-haj Abdul Baki Talukdar, General Secretary of Bagerhat Press Club.
