Two construction workers die falling from roof top on DU campus

Two labourers died falling from an under-construction building at Jagannath Hall of Dhaka University around 4 pm on Saturday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Swapan, 24, from Pabna, and Maidul Islam, 26, from Rangpur district.
Victims’ friend Santu Das told the media that they were working on the 2nd floor of the old eight-storey Santosh Bhattacharya building of Jagannath Hall. The workers fell when they were standing on a small place outside the building in order to work over the wall paints. They sustained critical injuries from the fall and finally breathed their last at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).
Professor Asim Sarker, Provost of Jagannath Hall, told the media, “The construction work of the 10th floor of the Santosh Bhattacharya Hall was going on. Two workers while working died there.
An investigation committee has been formed.The authorities are working on the issue. If there is any error of the construction company, then the action will be taken against the accused. ” Provost added.
Regarding the incident, Proctor of the University of Dhaka AKM Golam Rabbani told the media, ‘The Provost of the Hall has informed him. An inquiry committee has been formed in this regard. Action will be taken against the guilty. “
