2 shot dead in Sylhet over land dispute

Two men were killed and 50 others injured in a clash over the construction of a mosque’s boundary wall in Salutikor area of Sylhet’s Gowainghat upazila on Saturday morning
The deceased are Ali Ahmed, 25, and Rumel Ahmed, 30, both residents of Mitrimohol village, our Sylhet correspondent reports quoting Anisur Rahman Khan, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) of Sylhet district.
Police recovered the gun, but could not arrest prime suspect Jamal Uddin. They detained at least 10 people for interrogation in this connection, said the
ASP Anisur Rahman, adding that additional police have been deployed in the village.
Local said, an altercation broke out over the construction of Salutikor Bazar Jame Masjid boundary wall on Friday afternoon between two groups of people led by Jamal Ahmed from Bohor village and Abdus Sobhan from the neighbouring Mitrimohol village.
On Saturday around 7:00am, the altercation culminated into a clash. In the midst of the hour-long clash, Ali, Rumel, and another 10 to 12 people were injured.
Of them, Ali and Romel died in the Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.
