Two burnt to death in Cox’s Bazar fire

Two people have died in a terrible fire at Gorzonia Bazar of Ramu upazila in Cox’s Bazar.The deceased were identified as a grocery shop owner Feroz Ahmed (50) and Anwar Hossain (16), who is an employee of the shop.
Feroze Ahmed is the son of late Md Lal Mia Saudagar of Balobasa village and Anwar Hossain is the son of Nur Quader of Shukamnia village of the same union.
The fire started on Tuesday at around 1.50pm. 5 shops were completely burned. One motorcycle was partially damaged. According to the locals, the fire damaged worth around Tk 2 crore.
Gorznia Branch Police said the fire started from the Feroz Ahmed’s grocery store and the flame was spread in the neighboring shops. After receiving the news, fire crews from the Ramu and Cox’s Bazar Fire Service came to the area and started to extinguish the fire.
Till midnight, three shops were totally burnt. According to locals, shop owner Feroz Ahmed and his employees were sleeping inside the shop. After controlling the fire, the fire service members recovered their bodies from the store.
Ramu Upazila Executive Officer Pranoy Chakma, Ramu Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abul Khair, OC (Investigation) Mizanur Rahman, Kochchopia Union Parishad Chairman Abu Ismail Md Noman immediately rushed into the spot as they were informed.
At 4am, two bodies were handed over to their family. Ramu Upazila Executive Officer Pranoy Chakma provided financial assistance of Tk 25,000 to the families of the victims.
