Turkish envoy meets Khaleda

Turkish Ambassador to Bangladesh Huseyin Muftuoglu met BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia at her Gulshan office on Sunday.
During the hour-long meeting that began at around 4:50pm, they discussed various issues relating to the mutual interests of the two countries, BNP chairperson’s press secretary Maruf Kamal Khan told UNB.
BNP chairperson’s adviser and former IGP Abdul Quaym was present at the meeting, he added.
It was the second meeting of Khaleda with any foreign envoy stationed in Dhaka since Khaleda
staying in her Gulshan office from January 3.
Earlier on February 11, British High Commissioner Robert Gibson met Khaleda at her office and urged all parties to consider confidence-building measures in a bid to defuse the current tension in Bangladesh and stop violence.
BNP sources said a delegation of European Parliament’s Subcommittee on Human Rights which arrives here on Monday evening on a three-day official visit to witness human rights situation in Bangladesh will also meet BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia.
The delegation will start work from Tuesday morning and leave Dhaka on Friday.
