Visiting Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Saturday paid rich tributes to the Liberation War martyrs of Bangladesh placing wreaths at the National Mausoleum at Savar.
Housing and Public Works Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain and Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque received the Japanese PM at the National Mausoleum around 2 pm.
Abe observed a one-minute silence as a mark of respect as the bugle played the last post. He also signed the visitor’s book there.
Later, the Japanese Minister drove to the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi to pay respect to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman around 3pm.
He laid wreaths at the portrait of the Father of the Nation and observed a one-minute silence there. Abe then went round the museum and signed the visitor’s book.
Earlier in the day, the Japanese Prime Minister and his entourage, including his wife Abe arrived here on a two-day official visit. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina received him at the airport.
