BSS :
Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim said that the trial of the assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman has not yet been completed rather partial trial has been done.
“Bangabandhu’s assassination was not fully tried. A partial trial has taken place as those who were involved in the conspiracy that day and those who knew the conspiracy but did not take any steps to prevent the assassination of Bangabandhu, they are also criminals according to the penal code of our country,” he said.
The minister said this recently while speaking at a discussion and a doa-mahfil, organized by the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, at Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council (BARC) auditorium at Farmgate in the capital as the chief guest on the occasion of the 46th martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation and National Mourning Day.
On that day, Bangabandhu was assassinated due to the negligence of those who were responsible for providing security to Bangabandhu and those who were in charge of politics, he said.
“They also needed to be tried for negligence. But it did not happen. Those who benefited themselves by expressing loyalty to Khandaker Mushtaq are also criminals,” he added.
It is possible to complete the incomplete trial by forming a commission or with a new charge-sheet as per the Criminal Procedure Code (Fouzdhari Karzobidhi), he said, adding that there is no obstacle in the law for the trial of the murderers or conspirators of Bangabandhu.
Incomplete trial of Bangabandhu’s killing must be completed, he reiterated.
With Fisheries and Livestock Secretary Raunak Mahmud in the chair, the discussion was attended, among others, by Chairman of Bangladesh Fisheries Development Corporation Kazi Hasan Ahmed, Director General of the Fisheries Department Kazi Shams Afroz, Director General of the Department of Livestock Services Dr Shaikh Azizur Rahman, Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute (BLRI) Director General Md Abdul Jalil and Bangladesh Fisheries Research Institute (BFRI) Director General Yahya Mahmud.
