Cultural arena in JU Voice of debaters makes Muktamancha alive

Jahangirnagar University (JU) is known as the as the cultural capital of Bangladesh. Hardly a single day will be found when there is not happening any festival or cultural programme in the campus. There are some places where teachers and students celebrate life with various events and.
Selim Al Deen Muktamancha (a stage in the open field build under Greek Amphitheatre) is one of the most important place where its teachers and students. It was founded on 1980 and it was inaugurated by staging ‘Shakuntala’. Though the university authority reopened the campus after around 19-month closure on October 11 this year, no program happened at the Muktamancha. After foundation of the mancha, this was not empty for such a lengthy period.
Muktamancha adorned with a hundreds of audiences because of debate contest and prize giving ceremony of ‘National Debate Festival 2021’ was held recently. The debate festival was hosted by Jahangirnagar University Debate Organization (JUDO) where a total of 96 teams from different schools, colleges and universities participated. Jahangirnagar University Debate Organisation got the championship prize and Chattogram University Debating Society (CUDS) got the runner up prize in university category.
The organisers, competitors and audiences expressed satisfaction, pleasure and hope over the beginning of cultural event in the Muktamancha.
 While addressing as a guest in the concluding ceremony, Director of university’s teachers-students center, Prof Alamgir Kabir said that today the Muktamancha is enlightened with the presence my students overflowed me to see them here after around 19 months.
 Moderator of JUDO, Prof ATM Atiqur Rahman said that we never thought that we will come back to our beloved campus. This is very encouraging for us in the pandemic situation. I enjoyed the full ceremony with audiences where every audience seemed enthusiastic.
JUDO Secretary and a member of the team ‘JUDO Shangsaptak’ told that debating in the open stage like Muktamancha is a dream to the debaters of Bangladesh.
Being able to represent JU as a team member of JU Shangsaptak is as much a blessing, a pressure to meet the audiences’ expectations too. After around one and a half year of break Muktamancha got enlightened , this is a good start of normalcy to me.
Arjon Tripura, who was the Debater the Tournament in university category said that he attended in ‘JUDO National Debate Festival 2016’ but he dis not debate in the Muktamancha as he was a college student then.
