A timber trader was shot dead by some unknown miscreants at Chandanimahal in Dighalia uapzila of the district on Wednesday evening.
The victim was identified as Laxmi Kanta Mandal, 30, son of Natabar Mandal of Chandanimahal Pashchimpara area. Witnesses said coming in a motorbike a group of miscreants shot Laxmi while he was standing before his house in the evening, leaving him injured.
He was rushed to Khulna Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
The motive behind the murder could not be known immediately.
