Stocks perform mixed on large cap securities

Stocks performed mixed on Monday with major indices finishing upward trend on higher activities of some large cap securities despite declining the daily transactions.
BBS topped the turnover list followed by MJL BD, RSRM Steel, IDLC and Ifad Autos.
The broader DSEX index at Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the session of the day with 8.47 points up at 4869.59. The blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 1.43 points up at 1785.62 and 2.56 points up at 1157.14 respectively.
CSE closed the day of the week down trend with its major CASPI 13.33 points down at 14,968.57.
The daily transaction at the two markets declined considerably. The trade value at DSE declined to Taka 741.24 crore from Sunday’s Taka 823.64 crore when the trade volume was down to 21.38 crore from 29.32 crore shares of the last session.
At Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), the trade value declined to Taka 45.67 crore and the volume to 1.68 crore shares over previous session’s Taka 47.41 crore and 1.99 crore shares respectively.
At DSE 131 issues gained when 141 incurred loss and 53 remained unchanged out of the traded 325 securities. Similarly, 249 issues ended higher at CSE against 131 losing and 37 static issues.
Among the rising major sectors were food and allied, engineering and fuel and power. Food and allied, textile, IT sector and insurance declined at the day’s closing session.
The day’s major gainers were GHAIL, RSRM Steel, Renwick Ja, Eastern Lubricants and BBS. The most losing securities are Zeal Bangla, Dulamia Cotton, ISNLTD, Modern Dying and Padma Life.
