Tk 40 lakh snatched in city

A gang of muggers snatched away local and foreign currency worth about Taka 40 lakh from two brothers in city’s Mirpur area on Monday morning.
The muggers riding in two motorbikes waylaid two brothers-Wazer Rahman Zahid and Mohammad Alamgir Kabir near their residence at Mirpur Section No 6, Block-3 at about 10am while they were on the way to their business establishment at Mirpur-10.
The muggers took away the money from them at gunpoint and managed a good escape from the scene.
Talking to The New Nation on Monday an official of Mirpur Police Station said as the owner of Pran Money Exchange Abdul Wahab is now in Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj, his 2 brothers have been assigned to run the business during his absence.
Wahab’s wife Yeasmin Begum lodged a case with the Mirpur Police Station in this connection.
However, none was arrested in this connection, police said.
