Kishoreganj District Administration has taken strict security measures to make the price of essentials stable and curb extortion in the district during Ramzan, Deputy Commissioner of Kishoreganj Md. Sarowar Morshed Chowdhury said.
Tight security measures were taken to prevent extortion, mugging and other crimes during the holy Ramzan.
Besides, strict security measure will be provided to all markets round the clock.
District Magistrate Md Sarowar Morshed Chowdhury addressingt a law and order committee meeting at Local Collectorate Conference Room on Sunday.
It was addressed among others by Police Super Masrukur Rahman Khaled BPM, ADM Alamgir Hossain, Civil Surgeon Dr. Habibur Rahman, RAB- 14 Kishoreganj Company Commander Lt. Shovon Khan, Additional Police Super Nazmul Islam, Senior Magistrate Abu Taher Sayeed, Sadar UNO Abdullah-al-Masud and Jail Super Bazlur Rashid.
Police Super Masrukur Rahman Khaled told The New Nation that the government will show zero tolerance against extortion on the highways during the month. Police also work to curb extortion and easy the traffic system. Commercial banks adjacent to shopping malls will operate till night.
Police teams will be deployed for ‘foot patrol’ at different points.
Moreover, mobile teams patrol their designated areas by vehicles. There will also be motorcycle teams for patrolling the town areas.
In addition, block raids will be conducted at the town slums to nab criminals, he added.
Alognside the uniformed policeman, he said, plainclothes police detective teams will be deployed at the marketplaces Ramzan to keep round the clock vigil and thwart crimes.
BSS from Rangpur adds : The law enforcement agencies have taken adequate steps to bring all eight districts of Rangpur range of Bangladesh Police under security blanket during the holy month of Ramzan.
“Police and RAB will conduct special patrols, including anti-crime and anti-drug raids to ensure peaceful law and order during Ramadan,” Deputy Inspector General (DIG) for Rangpur range Khondker Golam Faruk said.
The DIG said this while talking to journalists after presiding over the range-level meeting on monthly crime, holy Ramzan, Eid-ul-Fitr, law and order and traffic management issues held at his conference room on Wednesday.

He said, “I have already directed all Superintendents of Police (SPs) of Rangpur range to take necessary measures to stop toll collections and extortions from vehicles on the roads and highways during Ramadan.”
The police forces and RAB would conduct special patrols separately to ensure security at all bigger markets and shopping centres for safety- security of the female buyers, he said.
“We have already declared zero tolerance policy against drugs. Police and RAB have started drives against drug traders. Drug traders shall not be spared,” the DIG said.
Besides, the highway police would take special measures to reduce the extent of road accidents on the roads and highways during Ramadan in all eight districts under Rangpur range, he added.
Additional DIGs for Rangpur range Bashir Ahmed and Mazid Ali, Additional DIG of CID Bijoy Kar, all eights SPs of Rangpur, Gaibandha, Kurigram, Lalmonirhat, Panchagarh, Thakurgaon and Dinajpur districts were present.
