Free public places from the smokers

Smoking should definitely be banned in public places. Smoking causes a lot of problems not only for the smoker, but for the people around. This is not an argument, it is a statement of fact. It pollutes the air. It is obvious that the cloud of smoke disturbs other people; especially non-smokers. It should be banned because the percentage of non-smokers is higher than active smokers. So the non-smokers have the right to clean air. Moreover, second-hand smoking is more dangerous than direct smoking. Imposition of more restriction will encourage people not to smoke. There are many diseases, such as cancer and cirrhosis that can easily be developed in a living body not just of because of the fact that he/she is a smoker but to the non-smokers due to indirect smoking or contamination thereof. Smoking should be made illegal in public places. If the relevant authority takes action, this would improve the health of thousands of people and that would definitely be a positive development.

Poor services in Public buses

BRTC bus service is a public transport service provided by the Government of Bangladesh. They provide bus service in Dhaka city as well as in Highways across the country. And people like to go by BRTC buses because it is cost effective and affordable. But BRTC does not have required number of buses and of the existing ones most of them are in the garage in bad condition. The authority doesn’t take the necessary step to solve the problem.
However, BRTC’s highway service is not standard like private companies’ bus service. Because as a highway service they are not providing the facilities like others. But they are taking higher fare without providing better facilities. In a highway bus there should be space for luggage but in BRTC buses there is no space for luggage. Passengers have to put their luggage under their seat or in front of their seat. Seats are of plastic materials and those are very uncomfortable for long journey. They have A/C but not working. So to meet the passengers’ satisfaction BRTC should take necessary steps to provide people a standard bus service.
